It's very Christian based and I thought it was really a good read for Christian families. It had some nice suggestions for Passiontide and the Holy Week which looks very much like the one you did last year...Not sure if you have this book already so I won't go into detail, but if you don't have it, LMK and I'll post some things for you. One thing I loved was to prepare an "Easter nest" on the festival table to await Easter Day fulfillment. So just an empty bowl or basket, sow seeds of grass or wheat and place the eggs that the children find in the basket on Easter morning. They also suggested baking Easter bread in various shaped and placing a piece on each plate at the bkfst table and leaving a bunch in a bowl on the festival table for sharing with guests. Anyway she goes into detail about the festival table which I'm happy to share if you don't have the book already :D LMK! And I have to say I'm so impressed that your daughter's ashes look so good! Ours usually look like a blob on the forehead - lol! I guess it's all in the hands of the distributor :DJenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08272157134061700589noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6874236216969112528.post-87291739964983796962010-02-19T00:22:05.789-08:002010-02-19T00:22:05.789-08:00thanks Jeanne : )

One of my friends is hoping to give me a pattern for a *Jesus tree* that sounds very similar to the Jesse tree. I'm not sure if it was a typo, but I think it's a felt based tree product centered around the Lenten season. We will be getting our ashes on Wednesday morning mass and I might order the little book you recommended about the Easter Lamb by Tasha Tudor. It looks adorable! We did a Lenten tree last year, and will do that again this year. The girls loved to grow grass seeds. We might also plant some seeds in a pinecone and soak it (think that's in the All Year Round book).

Thanks again for sharing such great ideas, Lynn!

Hugs,
JenJenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08272157134061700589noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6874236216969112528.post-42543650801622793312010-02-14T08:39:46.812-08:002010-02-14T08:39:46.812-08:00Sarah, we use our Jesse tree during Lent to great ...Sarah, we use our Jesse tree during Lent to great effect. hope it goes well for you & how exciting for you to be expecting a new baby!
LXLynnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02842327865295227316noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6874236216969112528.post-72295850376312255602010-02-14T07:05:53.642-08:002010-02-14T07:05:53.642-08:00That sounds really good, we've never celebrate...That sounds really good, we've never celebrated lent yet but have been thinking it could be a good focus, though we have a new baby due anytime so not sure I could do anything too involved - I like the idea of the Jesse Tree - I've only recently discovered using it for Advent, maybe I'll just do a search and do some simple lent activities (my children are quite young) Sarah xxSarah Dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03256265171435108515noreply@blogger.com
