January Circle Time

We will be taking off the first week in January.
Here is our circle time for the rest of the month:

Hymn

We three kings of Orient are

Bearing gifts we traverse afar

Field and fountain, moor and mountain

Following yonder star

O Star of wonder, star of night

Star with royal beauty bright

Westward leading, still proceeding

Guide us to thy Perfect Light

Scripture

Matthew 2:11

And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh.

Verse:

Now that winter's come to stay
all the trees are bare.
Little birds must fly away
To find their food elsewhere.

Little seeds lie hidden
In the dark brow earth,
Waiting until bidden
To rise above the earth.

(winter - Wynnstones)

Finger Play:

Softly, Softly, through the darkness ('patter' fingers)
Snow is falling
Sharply, sharply, in the meadows (cup ear)
Lambs are calling
Coldly, coldly, all around me (cuddle self)
Winds are blowing.
Brighly, brightly, up above me ('twinkle' fingers)
Stars are glowing

(winter - Wynnstones)

Song:

On the wind of January, down flits the snow.
Traveling from the frozen north
Cold as it can blow.

(winter - Wynnstones)

Great-hopefully I'll be able to incorporate some of this into our lives in Jan. Thanks for sharing!

Once again - FANTASTIC, Lynn! And I know that "Bonjour" song - we have a French CD that has that on as the first song. I think the CD is called, "Daniel", but I have to dig it out of my homeschooling cubbord. I put everything away for Dec (drat!) but we'll follow along with you on that one and on much else. I am not sure what to do about the snow songs, since we don't see it, except on the mountain tops, but I do want the girls to have the joy of snow. One big downfall about living in Southern Cal - the weather is so temperate. I do miss the seasons!

Love your picture, too! What building is that? I just love it!

Hugs, Happy New Year and enjoy your time off in Jan! I so wish we lived closer to each other...

thank you Jane & Jen!

oh, Jen, do you have skype? our girls could sing it together : )
I see what you mean about the snow....
The building is the tea room in our local park.

I had the same question as Jen. What is a tea room, besides drinking tea.Are there people serving tea and does it cost money? We have coffee shops maybe it is like that. At what times do you drink tea? I've started drinking tea at about 4 o'clock in the afternoon, so has Paige. I like Earl Grey, I just love the herb flavor of bergamot.

What a cute idea, Lynn! I am not sure if we do have skype - will ask DH. :D

Wow - what a beautiful tea room! I could sit there for hours and just *be*...It's lovely!

Tari once upon a time it was a lovely tea room, but now it is quite scruffy inside - they serve tea & coffee cakes & snacks - & the most delicious icecream!
I have to confess I do not drink tea - the smell of it makes me feel queezy - I had a nasty incedent as a young child - I drank my grandmothers tea, which had tea leaves in the bottom - I wont describe any further, except to say it has put me off tea for life!!!!!
I do like herbal & fruit teas - peppermint os one that comes to mind - the girls love strawberry tea - I havent tried bergamot - will look into that!- i may have to grow some this year!
